With Rajya Sabha passing AP Reorganization Bill 2013 after discussing for 4-long hours, Andhra Pradesh State has been split into two. Rajya Sabha had been extended till 8 P.M to pass the Bill. With this, Telanagana State is the 29th State of India. It may be recalled that the Bill was passed in Lok Sabha on Tuesday with the mutual support of both ruling and Opposition parties. Various amendments moved by several parties in Rajya Sabha were rejected including constitutional amendments.
PM Manmohan Singh has given a financial assurance to Seemandhra. However, Manmohan hasn’t said any figure to Seemandhra raising many eyebrows. Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde declared, “Special category status to Seemandhra to be given for 5 years.”
Now, the Bill is to be sent to President for his approval which is formal process. Telangana State is now reality after being party of Andhra Pradesh for 58 long years. It’s mixed feeling for both people of Telangana and residuary state of Andhra Pradesh. It’s time to move on.
