Saket Court has finally pronounced their verdict in the brutal Dec 16th gang-rape of Delhi that has shaken the whole nation. Principal judge Yogesh Khanna felt that the intensity of the crime committed by these beasts should be rewarded only by ‘Death’, and termed this as rarest of rare case. However the sentence should be confirmed by High Court to finally send the culprits to death bed.

After seven long months of judicial hearings, and after nine months of the death of 23 year old physiotherapist ‘Nirbhaya’, her rapists Mukesh Singh, Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma and Akshay Thakur are sentenced to death by hanging by the fast track court. After identifying the horrific treatment meted to Nirbhaya by these ruthless beasts, including pulling her intestines out and outraging her modesty with a rusted iron rod. Just in his one paragraph order, Judge termed this as a rarest of rare case and awarded death for all the four without any second thoughts.

Reacting on the judgement Nirbaya’s father stated that he is happy with the verdict, while Delhi police revealed that they are completely satisfied with the verdict for the kind of investigation they have done.

Observers say that any punishment other than ‘death’ would have made public lose their faith in judicial system.

On December 16th 2012, the 23 year old brave heart was brutally assaulted and gang raped in a moving bus while her male friend is beaten to near death. After battling for life for a week, she succumbed to internal injuries at a hospital in Singapore on December 29th.
