For the first time in his entire political career, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has set a target on his 68th birthday on Thursday. He spent most of his valuable time in the drought hit Anantapur district where he launched the construction of irrigation ponds to tech water needs of the farmers.
Naidu targeted to dig one lakh ponds in all Anantapur district this year alone which will help to increase ground water levels during the rainy season. The storage capacity of each pond is around 3 lakh liters. Once the one lakh ponds ate constructed, the drought affected district will be freed from water crisis.
Earlier, the chief minister took the blessings of Pundits and spent some time with the family members before leaving to Anantapur from Amaravathi. Prime minister Narendra Modi, Governor ESL Narasimhan and Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao also extended birthday wishes to Naidu.
